BOOK REVIEW: PLAY WITH ME by Piper Shelly

Play With Me (Grover Beach Team, #1)Play With Me by Piper Shelly
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Play with Me was super short but with that limited amount of pages of this book it already made me laugh, made my heart ache and made me swoon.

You maybe thinking that Liza moved on too fast but...This is one of the stories that the girl believes that she's in love with this guy since they were kids and already thinking about spending her forever with him. She's also in this comfort zone already with this guy and it could be considered to be in the best buds category. But as time passes by, it ends up just being a thought that she's holding on to. Like she loves the idea of her being in love with that person. In that way, when another guy enters the picture and tried to make her heart skip a beat ... the falling in love and drowning in feels part comes faster. Especially when that guy makes the girl feels special and desired. (Wink wink. Special. Desired. Liz truly said that in the book.)

Liza Matthews. She's just hilarious. Her lines are just dead on funny and witty! A very entertaining character. "I slumped on my bed and made plans for a week trapped inside. At least my to-be-read stack would shrink drastically this way." (I like book characters who read and who's also experiencing this trying to diminish the number of books in his/her to-be-read pile mission. I feel like we could be buddies!)

"Are you bananas, babe? Ryan Hunter is completely under your spell." Yes. Liza's bananas. She'd be stupid if she let Ryan slip out of her hands.

Ryan Hunter. He's a totally package already. Well yeah, he'd been an ass to other girls but Liza's has been the exception all along. 'Cause ever since he caught sight of Liza, he already knew that she's the girl for her. Regarding that messy scene towards the end which involved Tony, Liza and him, I truly believed that Ryan didn't come out there and followed Tony's instruction. Never did I doubt him about it. He was there as a genuine friend to Liza and well...also trying his luck out to steal Liza's heart.

"For a minute there, I thought I stood a chance. But I guess in the end, Mitchell will still
be the lucky one."
- Ryan Hunter (*sobs* My heart is aching over this.)

Tony Mitchell. Wow Tony could really be an ass, an insensitive jerk and a pathetic dude. He really deserves that thing that happened to him. Gahhh. Karma. Good thing he a lil bit redeemed himself with that "texting a friend" scene.

"At least it was for me. I kind of took you for granted. Your love for me was permanent. Why should I have worried about losing you?" - Tony (Psh. Now you learn your lesson)

Bye x

BOOK REVIEW: RYAN HUNTER by Piper Shelly

Ryan Hunter (Grover Beach Team, #2)Ryan Hunter by Piper Shelly
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Awww man, Ryan Hunter's POV. I love books written in a guy's perspective. It makes me fully realize that it's not just girls who gets that tingly feeling when they met a nice dude/the "one" and the achy feeling when they're dumped, cheated upon on or when they realize that they weren't the chosen one. Boys do feel the same way too. That inside that macho bodies of theirs and no matter how swoon worthy they are, they're still human beings who has feelings.

I love how he truly cares for Liza. He'd do everything for Liza's happiness. *swoon*

Oh wow. In Play with Me we never witnessed Ryan and Liza's mom conversation before that "distraction thing" fully went underway (because of it being in Liza's POV). I'm just happy that Liza's mom really trusted Ryan to make Liza happy. Seeing how Hunter interacts with his parents and Liza's mom just adds to his swoon and drool worthy points. A dude with good manners.

Quite an internal mean streak going on there when it comes to Tony. All the hoping and praying inside his head. But then Tony did deserve that meanness reeling inside Ryan's head. (Still annoyed by Tony's character. Pfft!)

I'm also happy how he treats other people despite of him being up in the social scene ladder. In short, he's not a douchebag.

I'm really happy for Ryan Hunter's character. He deserves everything that happened. :)

BOOK REVIEW: SAPPHIRE BLUE by Kerstin Gier

Sapphire Blue (The Ruby Red, #2)Sapphire Blue by Kerstin Gier
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Yes, I enjoyed reading Sapphire Blue but for me (what the?!) the book was a tad bit disappointing. All that ever happened to this book was just a motion of piling up loads of questions in my head and sad to say the story ended with none of those being answered. I already thought that my head was seconds or minutes away from exploding. I think, it could've been great if at least some matters were already addresed here in this book.

Sapphire Blue only have 12 chapters, plus a prologue and epilogue, it's much shorter than Ruby Red. *sobs* Me thinks that the author should've tried to do more than that. The concept and the main storyline of the series is amazing which offers tons of matter that are great to explore. *sigh* But still it doesn't diminishes of how amazed I am with the way the author's mind works. She had to go through loads of past-present-past-present dilemma and I think it's already a mind game of its own.

I'm hoping and praying that Emerald Green will be much longer and a great conclusion to the series. Surely, all these questions that sprouted from our minds since Ruby Red will be answered. I'm quite excited on how everything will unfold.

Discussion:

1. I love those tables and written records that appear before each chapter. It gives us more knowledge about the Precious Stone Trilogy world.

2. Gahhhd that scene with Puffylips and Charlotte! I wanna strangle both of them right then and there! They're just full of insults towards Gwyneth! Pssh people, she doesn't need all of those! Arghhh! That was just so frustrating! *pulls my hair out*

3. Xemerius. Oh how I love this gargoyle. Xemerius just makes the book all better and lighter. He's a great and useful buddy to Gwen. Even though, he keeps of pestering Gwen about buying him a dog. LMAO! That scene of him and James the ghost was just soooo funny HAHAHA!

4. Gywneth and Lucas Montrose conversations. Those scenes were really cool. Imagine talking to your grandfather way before your mother was born. Awesome, right? But what's more awesome is them trying to find out why things happened - why Lucy and Paul stole the chronograph. It's kind of weird 'cause from Lucas Montrose point of view it's still about to happen in his near future and discussing that already is ... But there he is trying to solve the mystery of it. And oh even himself still doesn't know about the Green Rider thing in which Lucy mentioned in Ruby Red that once Gwen saw his grandfather she should ask him what it's all about.

5. What's the real deal between Gywneth and Gideon?! I kind of hate Gwen towards the end when she didn't allow Gideon to explain. For fvcksake, I need that answer! And I terribly hate Gideon for the most part of this book! One second he's all these mushy and sweet to Gwen and the next thing we know he's all that stone cold being. Love and Ignore relationship at its finest. Psh. Grow up.

6. Lucas Montrose? Count? Lucy? Paul? Gwen and Gideon? Lord Alistair? I want to know the answers between their characters involvement to this whole chronograph fiasco. Gimme answers.

Secret from the chronograph? Green Rider? That thing that happened to Gideon and Gwen's possible involvment to that? Treasure thing in Gwen's house? Aunt Maddy's visions? That Alliance thingy? Answers please.

This series will really make your mind and imagination run wild trying to come up with the possible answers for each question you have. (Whilst taking the time concept/factor in to consideration.)

BOOK REVIEW: PRICE OF A KISS BY LINDA KAGE

Price of a KissPrice of a Kiss by Linda Kage
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Now this book is what I really need after that disaster-ish kind of book I've read last night. Price of a Kiss has a story into it and the characters got personality!

Price of Kiss starts off with Reese Randall changing her given name and transferring to another town to avoid her psycho ex-boyfriend who tried to kill her.

First day of school, she spotted this guy “Hotness” she names him and her interest towards him perked up already. Then her cousin drops a bomb that that dude is a freakin' gigolo. Come on, he’s a guy who offers sex in exchange of a promising amount of money. Oh man! Quite a messy situation you've got there already... (Read the book, if you find the start of the story interesting. I can honestly tell you it gets even better as the story progresses.) *happy dance*

First of all, I just want to say that I wanna strangle Mrs. Garrison. That wicked witch. >.< Grrr.

Reese Randall. *hands down* She sees everything in a different light. She's not the type to quickly judge things or the people around her. She's also a very accepting gal, in terms on how she dealt with Mason and his line of work. Oh man.

“You might not have charged me a fee, but kissing you is too big of a price for me. I didn’t sign up for this. Now let me go.” - Reese

Mason Lowe is totally a swoon worthy dude *fans myself*. He thinks first about his family's needs rather than himself and whatever reputation the society associates him with. He cares for his lil sister, Sarah, a lot and you can see it on how affectionate he gets when he's around her. And also I love how sweet he gets towards Reese. *feels*

I love how Reese and Mason's relationship got started. It's so cute when they started off as friends first and ajdjejre all that happens. (Also considering with what Mason's work is and the risk of them being seen together.) The joy and the heartbreak elements are just there. It makes the story even better.

“Damn it. We are, but the only reason we’re just friends is because there’s no way we could possibly ever be anything more.” - Mason (See what I mean with how it can make the story even better? *sobs* It was quite a heart wreching scene back there.)

BOOK REVIEW: RUBY RED by Kerstin Gier

Ruby Red (Precious Stone Trilogy, #1)Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was really giddy to start reading this book, for I have heard such great reviews about Ruby Red and the entire Precious Stone Trilogy. I also happen to stumble upon Xtinemay's review of this book but stopped the video before it reached the spoiler-ish portion. I just knew that I don't want to spoil myself and I deffo need to read this book. It was that catchy and interesting.

Ruby Red is the first book of the series and it has been a great ride reading this one. The book is all about Gywenth being part of a family who has this history of time traveling. Whoa! It's awesome, right?

Sad to say her cousin, Charlotte, was said to be the one who inherited that gene. So since childhood Charlotte has been trained, prepped and all that if ever her time to elapse comes. All of her grandma and aunt's attention were all on Charlotte. All she got from those people were snarky comments and comparisons on how special Charlotte is. Sucks to be in Gywenth's positon ...

But a single travel (or should I say twice) through time will change that. Had they got it wrong all along? Have they trained the wrong person? What'll happen next to Gywenth? (If you find it really interesting, you better pick this book up and hurry on read this thing.)

It was mindblowing. It totally made the wheels in my brain keep on turning. It was obviously well-written. Come on. Just going through the past and present events, I think that alone is quite mind boggling to write. And for the story to end beautifully and intricately woven into one, phew phew! Everything was just well thought out. Beautiful. Awesome. I'm just quite sad that it was sooooooo short. I want the story to go on and on and on. *grabby hands* for Sapphire Blue.

Gywneth's character. Omg. Bringing a mobile phone in the past and taking photos during her visit there ... I'll prolly do that also. I wouldn't pass up that opportunity of taking photos from the past. Coolio!

The romance department of the book though, it quite shocked the hell out of me. The turn of events was so sudden in terms of Gywneth and Gideon's relationship. Yes, they have this love-hate chemistry but I was like..."What?! Where did that come from, Gideon?!" It would be a ton more convincing if this first book just focused on chemistry building because there were so much going on that that change of heart that happened to Gideon seemed to be abrupt. I don't know about you but for me it feels that way... (Anyways, this is just a small part of the story and it certainly won't change the fact that I love this book!) I want more moments on the next book.

I'm uber looking forward to get started with Sapphire Blue. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT! Gahhhd with that ending, OMFG there's so many things that'll be happening on the next two books (that I'm sure of).

It has also reached my knowledge that there's a movie adaptation of this book aaaaand I'm trying to do researches or some serious stalking with the actors involved in the movie. The actor who portrays Gideon is a total eye candy. (Now, imagine my eyes with hearts all over it. Lol!) Gideon actor and Gywneth actress looks great together... Cuties!

Bye. x

BOOK REVIEW: ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS by Stephanie Perkins

Anna and the French KissAnna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS , oh shizz! I just love this book! Love love love everything about it! The story, the characters, the setting - Paris! You'll definitely have a great reading experience if you decide to pick this up. So, I pretty much recommend it!

It's so cool, 'cause we get to have this character of Anna, who's pretty much an outsider at beginning of the book from the Paris scene (somewhat, like us readers), and as the story progresses she learns to adapt to her environment (and it's the same with us). After that takes place we (readers) find a way to be able to slip through the setting of the story.

Huff! Don't get me started with Etienne St. Clair. Dude, focus on his name and BAMMM IT'S ALREADY A SWOON WORTHY ONE! *SPAZZING* What more if you get to meet and learn about his character? *DEAD* This guy right here, I can't even! Asdfghjkl love you! Haha! *Help! I'm already a puddle of goo on the floor*

TO SUM IT ALL UP - THIS BOOK MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD, BURST INTO GIGGLES, JUMP UP AND DOWN, SQUIRM IN MY SEAT, ROLL IN MY BED, MANAGED TO MAKE ME SAD AND MOST IMPORTANTLY IT MADE MY FANGIRL HEART SWELL!

AAAAH ENOUGH, Just read this book peeps! <3 data-blogger-escaped-br="">

Cover Reveal: Gates by Laurie Lyons

A thin strand of ivy stretched on its own and reached down for his hand, entwining itself around his finger. Nathaniel twisted it in his fingers thoughtfully.
“What am I going to do?” he whispered at the moon.  He looked at Lucy’s sleeping face again and then at the moon. “Save her,” he almost begged, “let it kill me but save her, if you can.” He gazed back at her, a pained smile twisted on his mouth. He leaned his head back against the pillow and let go of the ivy, watching it wind its way back up to the rafters.
He didn’t sleep. This was not going to end well.

In the second book of The Feather Trilogy, Lucy and Nathaniel have started their sophomore year at Mulbridge University. Everything seems perfect but a series of strange accidents leave them both wondering if something sinister is lurking. Is it just fate or is something evil after Lucy’s soul? Does Roman, recently returned from the depths of Hell, have anything to do with it? Nathaniel and Lucy struggle to find answers until all is terrifyingly revealed on the Winter Solstice in an ending that will leave you breathless.

Gates is an exhilarating, exciting read that will keep you guessing until the very last page.

GATES will be released May 24 on Amazon.com, Amazon.ca and at Chapters in South Calgary Alberta Canada

Shatter. Destroy. UNRAVEL ME.

Hello there, my dear readers!

It's been a month already since my last post and I kind of miss blogging about random stuff. If you're wondering what was I doing this past few weeks - here you go. I was busy with school (finishing everything up so that I can graduate in time), busy managing Facebook Pages, busy reading books and then GRADUATED. Yes. I'm now a college graduate and needs to look for a job already. *pats my shoulder*

Anyways.
Here we go, random post.

Books. Books. Books are my friends whenever I'm at home. They keep my heart beating with the different stories I read from them and they keep my fangirling/shipping heart satisfied with the different pairings they have. All the feels in this world. I tell you, if you're really into the book you are reading, you will be able to feel every single emotion it can possibly give you.

Recent books that I've read: Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi (Shatter Me, Destroy Me and Unravel Me). Seriously. You need to read this books - freakin' awesome! The twist and turns of the story, how the characters are entwined with each other and the pairings that the series has. It surely is worth your time reading, none of it will be put to waste. *Bows down* to Ms. Author - Tahereh.

Talking about pairings and feels - my recent OTP (One True Pairing) Juliette and Ad-- oops. Not that pairing. TEAM WARNER OVER HERE!

O-M-G WARNER! There's just something in him that makes me ksrfjdklaeskddfjdgnsekd *insert alien fangirl talk*. Come on guys read the books, then you'll know why I reacted that way. I love Warner. Warner. Oh Warner.

Brb. Chapter 62-ing with Warner. HAHA. Loljk. Ignore my random ramblings. -.-

I'm excited for the novella (Shatter Me 2.5) that Tahereh's mentioning and I think it's going to be released on December. But fans are still clueless as to who's POV it'll be. Please let it be Warner. Warner. I need to know what he's thinking.

Of course, I can't wait for the release of Shatter Me 3 which will be next year. There's just so many questions running through my mind with regards to this one. Okay. I can't deal with this right now. HAHA!

END NOTE: READ THOSE BOOKS AND TWEET ME @AmandaNicolette AFTER YOU'VE FINISHED READING IT! I SWEAR YOU'LL BE NEEDING SOMEONE WHOM YOU CAN TALK TO. Well. I guess that's it for me now.

I'll be back soon.

- Amanda <3
