FEATURED: Kyla LoPresti, Author of FlashBack

Kyla LoPrestiSource: http://flashbackseries.com/
My dear readers, I had the opportunity to interview a lovely young lady named, Kyla LoPresti, author of the FlashBack series.

How did I came to know about her? Twitter is the answer to that. I was checking my friend's twitter account (who's an avid reader of YA books, just like me) and saw her account. I was really curious about her, why? Because a part of her twitter bio says this one: "13 year old Author, I published my first book when I was 12! ..." AMAZING! Yeah. Like who else gets to publish a book at the age of 12? For me, I certainly don't know any one. Then I checked her website, saw the preview of the book and liked it. That's the time I decided that I want her to be featured on my blog.

I tweeted her about the blog interview, she followed, replied and DM'ed me, there you go. Communicated and all those stuff I needed to be able to send her the interview questions. Waited for a couple of days. Then, I'm here blogging all about it. Not to keep you waiting, here's the interview!

Get to know more about Kyla:
1. First and foremost, can you tell us more about yourself?
- My name is Kyla LoPresti.  I am in 8th grade at Bailey Middle School in West Haven, CT.  I live with my parents, my little sister Zoey and dog Cole.

2. Who’s your favorite author?
- My favorite author is Cassandra Clare

3. What kind of music do you prefer?
- I like different kinds of music. My favorite artists are Christina Perri, Green Day, Monsters & Men, Lincoln Park, Ron Pope, Ed Sheeran

About being an author:
4. How did you end up becoming an author?

- I didn’t always know I was going to be an author.  One night I had a dream about the character in my book and I woke up and just starting writing about her.  It started as a short story and I decided to make it longer and add more characters and ideas.

5. Any person who inspired you in creating your own line of books?
- I like reading series.  I thought I could make my book into a series too. My parents inspired me to keep writing and share my ideas with others.

6. When did you start writing this? Is there any dream behind it (just like the birth of The Twilight Saga) or any inspiration for this? Any hardships you faced in getting this book published?
- I started writing my book a week before my 12th birthday. I wrote it just for myself because I had a dream about it. I started telling friends and family about it and they were really interested in reading it. So, my parents helped me make it into book format and publish it. I self published my book so there were no hardships of being turned down or people telling me it wasn’t good enough. I am lucky to have people to so support me and are excited about reading my book.

7. How many books do you plan to write for this series?

- I plan on writing 5 books for the series.  I already have them planned out and named.  But I will keep that a secret for now. :)

HOLLYWOOD PORTAL, REALLY GOES INTERNATIONAL!

Yes. You've read the blog post title correctly. INTERNATIONAL IT IS

You may now be questioning me on how did I manage to do that, am I right? Well, the answer is staying up late and being on Twitter for 1,2,3 ... I don't know hours.

Even before I started this blog, I already had this game plan on my mind to have a "FEATURE" an artist or an author portion here in my blog. But I don't have that much time to look for potential interviewees because of too much school stuff going on. That's why I grabbed this holiday vacation as an opportunity to take time and focus on this part of my blog. Well, it turned out pretty fine because I already received a couple of responses from artists and authors! Wohoo! I'm so stoked to craft my individual blog posts for them! That's about it, everyone! :)

First MUSIC VIDEO for the BREAKING DAWN PART 2 SOUNDTRACK, DEBUTS!

With the much anticipated epic finale of The Twilight Saga, it means a new set of artists  enlisted to be on its soundtrack. Soundtrack producer, Alexandra Patsavas is pretty much well known on picking out the best among the rest artists and songs for the saga.

During the past Twilight Saga soundtracks, I can honestly say that I was clueless on the artists that were chosen to be in it. I just heard their names and band names because they were involved in this humongous movie series. But upon researching and listening to their songs in the album, plus other songs sung by them, I totally got hooked into them. Every single artist has a cool, different vibe and a very distinct take on music. I'll be raising my hand and can say that I'm a fan of those artists, uhmm Florence + The Machine, Metric, Imperial Mammoth, Cee Lo Green are just some of my beloved artists.

Well, this year Alexandra Patsavas did it again and I'm so happy with the set of artists picked out for the soundtrack. The Boom Circuits, Iko, Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding, Christine Perrie (who's back again for Part 2) with Steve Kazee, Paul McDonald with Nikki Reed (our dear Rosalie Hale) and Green Day are just some of the lucky 14 artists.

It's the time of the promotion period wherein a music video from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 soundtrack debuts. Not to keep you waiting, here it is The Forgotten by Green Day. Heads up, snippets from the movie are all over the music video. Enjoy!

NEW SONG! Little Things - One Direction

  Source

One Direction - Little Things - 4 Days To Go

With Live While We're Young leaked on the internet days before it's proper release, the release for this song gave the 1D Management a reason to tease the fans. 1DHQ revealed a couple of lines from the song on their FB Page and Twitter account. In know, they're such a tease. But that really psyched the fans and got our minds worked up for the possible next lines of the song.

*FAST FORWARD*
When the time of its first RADIO PLAY came ...
Loads of fangirling, tears streaming down our faces, worshiping the lyrics, hyperventilating because of the emotion-filled voices of every single member.

Every aspect of the song is perfect. Lyric wise - GENIUS, with Ed Sheeran writing it. How it was sung by the boys - FLAWLESS. Every single emotion needed to be shown was out there. That's the reason why ME, US, the whole One Direction fandom (DIRECTIONERS) can't stop playing and listening to it.

Personally, I can't even remember how times I played this song on my phone, laptop and mp3 from the moment this was released. The song is just pure HEAVEN. The tune, genre or whatever you want to call it - is quite far from the other songs they did on their debut album. But still, they didn't fail the expectation of the fans and the audience. They EXCEEDED it.'Cause maybe other people just thought that One Direction could only do upbeat songs and the likes, but this song just proved them wrong. They could possibly do anything and everything.

NOVEMBER 2 - Puhlease come faster. LITTLE THINGS MUSIC VIDEO will be out on this date and I'm pretty sure it's going to be on replay for millions of fans. Can't wait. x

FIRST LOOK: RED HAIR for Lily Collins!

I'm sure the whole The Mortal Instruments series FANDOM or I must say, all the SHADOWHUNTERS are *jumping up and down* with this recent picture of Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell-Bower.

The duo was spotted in Yoco Froyo in Toronto, Canada grabbing some yogurt before they headed for a stroll.

This photo serves as the "FIRST LOOK PICTURE" of Lily having a RED HAIR. Her hair transformation is needed for her role in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones for she will be playing the heroine of the book turned into movie, red head - Clarissa Fray. While Jamie will be portraying the guy lead role, Jace Wayland.

And this is the reason why both of them are in Toronto right now. Toronto, Canada serves as their main location for shooting the movie.

Filming for the movie will start on August 20 (Monday).

*Honestly, I think that they have a really good CHEMISTRY. When I look at them together I just instantly FANGIRLS. From the very moment that I learned that Jamie Campbell-Bower was cast for the role of Jace Wayland, I already did fangirled and was already searching for some pictures edited or not of them together. I really knew that they'd be a cool and exciting pair to watch out for. *

How about you guys? What can you say about Lily Collins' new hair color? Are you excited to see her portray the role of Clary Fray in the City of Bones movie? And are you excited to see how their pairing will play on screen?

*SQUEE-ing, excuse me if I do fangirl a lot*

RED: Taylor Swift's 4th Album and New Single RELEASED!

RED is the title for Taylor Swift's 4th studio album. She revealed it during her live webcast from Nashville, yesterday (August 13, 2012). Seems fitting right, 13 serves as Taylor's lucky number.

I'm sure many people would be asking, "Why did she decided on RED to be its title?"

Well, Ms. Swift already clued us in on WHY? She said, “I called it Red because of the tumultuous, crazy adventures in love and loss that it chronicles. In my mind, when you experience love that’s fast paced and out of control and mixes infatuation, jealousy, frustration, miscommunication, and all of those lovely emotions…in retrospect, it all looks red.” (via: justjared)

She also mentioned on her interview with sfgate.com, "All those emotions spanning from intense love, intense frustration, jealousy, confusion, all of that, in my mind all those emotions are red. There's nothing in between. There's nothing beige about any of those feelings,".

It was also in that same day that she dropped off her new single entitled "WE ARE NEVER EVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER" .

Some information that I gathered during the interviews she did for the past days, regarding RED and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together

1. The singer also revealed that she wrote “30 to 35″ songs for the album and but whiddled it down to 16 tracks, which includes a duet with recording artist Ed Sheeran. - abcnews.go.com

2. “Writing ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ was one of the most hilarious experiences I have ever had in the studio because it just happened so naturally,” abcnews.go.com
3. On We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together: She sarcastically described it as "really touching and sensitive," saying "it's a really romantic song that's to my lovely ex-boyfriend." - sfgate

I'm going to stop my talking/blogging at this point and I'll leave you with the Lyric Video for We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and some great covers that I found on Youtube.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 Cast INVADES COMIC CON '12!

STEPHENIE MEYER. EDWARD-BELLA-JACOB LOVE TRIANGLE. VAMPIRES. WEREWOLVES. ROBERT PATTINSON. KRISTEN STEWART. TAYLOR LAUTNER ... Those are just some of the words that enter your mind when you hear the word THE TWILIGHT SAGA

Agree with me? *I can picture you out nodding your head with me*

For several years already, Twilight fans [Twi-Hards, TwiFans, Twilighters or any other name you want to call them] had already built the habit of attending Comic Con once it is announced that The Twilight Saga cast will do a fan panel. *Yes. We have very dedicated members of the Twilight fandom/family. If only I have the means to go there, I will surely be one of those people lining up and waiting for the panel to start*

This year was quite different from the others [not talking about the HYPE over here], a fan *Gisella G* met an accident and died just a day before the fan panel. The whole Twilight family were saddened when this news broke. Even the stars paid respect for our fellow Twilight fan. Again, RIPTwiFanG

Speaking of HYPE, after years of The Twilight Saga ...the hype hasn't died down instead it gotten bigger over the years. *NODS HEAD, right?*

On this year's panel, many of the cast members were in attendance. And for the very first time Mackenzie Foy who portrays the role of Renesmee (Edward and Bella's daughter) joins the rest of the cast in this one crazy fan event.

Phew. Every single moment of that Twilight Comic Con event will surely be treasured by the fans considering that it was the last one. Yep. LAST.

So here are some of the pictures of the cast from the event:

International Books: TRANSLATED to FILIPINO!

Precious Pages Corporation (PPC), the company behind the very successful Precious Hearts Romances (PHR) is very known in the Philippine Market for its thousands of published Tagalog romance pocketbooks.

Martha Cecilia, Rose Tan, Vanessa, Heart Yngrid, Sonia Francesca, Angel Bautista, Laurice del Rio and Amanda are just some of the known authors of PHR pocketbooks. These paperbacks that they usually write are about 128 pages (minimum) and can be bought in the market for P37 (cheapest price in the market). Some of these stories where even made into TV shows in ABS-CBN (I'm sure you remember Precious Hearts Romances  presents: Bud Brothers.)

TWILIGHT copies on my table. Finally, it will be out in the market
next week May 23, 2012.
Visit any Precious Pages stores and
grab a copy of this limited premium Filipino version of TWILIGHT.

But shifting gears, last May 18 while I was surfing the internet a certain picture on my news feed caught my attention.

Precious Hearts Romances translating Twilight in Tagalog. With that, making the title as TAKIPSILIM. [Which brings back all the memories from '09, wherein rumors were circulating that a certain Philippine TV station will be doing a Philippine version of Twilight]

I was really shocked on what I saw (for I am a Twilight Saga fan, myself) and I don't know what to expect from this. I was really worrying over on what they could have possibly done to my favorite novel. Making it a TRENDING TOPIC among us Twilight fans in our Facebook groups.

Fans were having MIXED EMOTIONS.

But as PHR posted on their Facebook page, they just wanted to give the readers a choice , a variation on how they want to read the bestselling books out on the market - English (original language of the books) or in Filipino (translated). CHOICE is the keyword there.

Well, I guess Twilight (Takipsilim) did well in terms of their sales and the readers dig it. Why? For they are now venturing in doing a Filipino translation of ... The Hunger Games Trilogy and Fifty Shades Trilogy.

What can you say about this TRIBUTES and Fifty Shades of Grey lovers

Pages to Screen

*light bulb sound* Great thinking Hollywood executives, directors, scriptwriters and book authors.

Today's generation is bombarded with loads of exciting book series and has certainly received good feedback from the readers. Thus, building a huge FANDOM surrounding it.

Taking this fact into consideration, the Hollywood trend of today is turning these bestseller books into blockbuster movies.

A Book and Great Author + Brilliant Director and Scriptwriter (crew) + Perfect Actors for the lead roles = A+++ and millions of money.

Readers of the book + fans of the actors = totally insane and HUGE FANDOM.

Magical Pages to a Magical Movie Experience

June 26, 1997 (UK Release Date for the book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone), I'm sure Potterheads won't forget this significant date that ignited everything else in HP's world. The whole world (young or old people) was introduced and entered the world of Magic, Harry Potter, Hogwarts, magic spells and curses.

But it was only after FOUR YEARS (2001) that this book was turned into a movie. I can clearly remember the date when it was released in the United States (why? It was a day before my birthday). November 16 it is.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and J.K. Rowling + Chris Columbus (Director) + Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint (THE TRIO) = oh well, everyone of you knows the end result, A WORLDWIDE MAGICAL PHENOMENA.

Vampires of Today

Twilight, the first book of The Twilight Series (vampire-romance) was published on October 5, 2005. The world was introduced to the dangerously hot and gorgeous creatures that existed in the fictional world.

When talking about this book series, we can't avoid mentioning these beautiful names created by Stephenie Meyer: Isabella Marie Swan, Edward Anthony Masen Cullen, Jacob Black, Alice Cullen, Rosalie Hale and many more.

The hype for this book got so fast that in 2004, Paramount Pictures' MTV Film was the original option as the studio to make a movie version of it. But then it faltered for they've produced a script that was quite far from the story line of the Twilight novel.

2006 - Erik Feig (President of Production at Summit Entertainment) made a deal to Stephenie Meyer and promised her that the film would be true to her vision.

The DIRECTOR AND SCRIPTWRITER. August 31, 2007 - Summit officially signed Catherine Hardwicke as the director and Melissa Rosenberg as the scriptwriter of the movie. Then we're off to casting...

(A day before my birthday AGAIN) On November 16, 2007 - Summit posted an official press release saying that Kristen Stewart will be playing the 17-year-old, Isabella Swan. And it was also announced that the production of the film will start by February of '08.

December 11, 2007 - Robert Pattinson was revealed to be playing the role of EDWARD CULLEN

Then, BAMMMMMMMMMMM! The rest is HISTORY
