BOOK REVIEW | AS LONG AS YOU LOVE ME (2B Trilogy #2) by Ann Aguirre

Title: AS LONG AS YOU LOVE ME (2B Trilogy #2)
Author: Ann Aguirre (Website | Twitter)
Publisher: Harlequin HQN
Publication: September 30, 2014

SYNOPSIS

Most people dream about getting out of Sharon, Nebraska, but after three years away, Lauren Barrett is coming home. She has her reasons; missing her family, losing her college scholarship. But then there's the reason Lauren can't admit to anyone: Rob Conrad, her best friend's older brother.

Football prowess and jaw-dropping good looks made Rob a star in high school. Out in the real world, his job and his relationships are going nowhere. He's the guy who women love and leave, not the one who makes them think of forever until Lauren comes back to town, bringing old feelings and new dreams with her.

Because the only thing more important than figuring out where you truly belong is finding the person you were meant to be with.

Upon finishing I Want It That Way, I was eager to start reading As Long As You Love Me. Why? Because I quite like the premise of the story and just learning that it will focus on Lauren and Rob, I know I’m in for a treat. I don’t know about you but during IWITW, I already felt the years of pent up feelings towards these two. You can already see them getting together but then you’re just clueless on how they’ll get to that point of their lives.

We’ve been previously introduced to Lauren in IWITW as Nadia’s best friend who dropped out of college and decided to return to their small town in Sharon, Nebraska. My first thought when Ann Aguirre pulled that “drop out – return to their town” scenario was “Oh how fitting for Lauren and Rob’s character to meet-up again”. I was really giddy and at the same time apprehensive about it. I’m not so sure if Aguirre just used it for their characters to cross paths again. But then looking at it now that I’ve finished reading the book, it was a fitting move for Lauren’s character and it was something she actually needed to do.

RELEASE DAY LAUNCH | THE SHAPE OF MY HEART by Ann Aguirre

TSOMH RDL Banner

I'm so excited to bring you the Release Day Launch for Ann Aguirre's incredible THE SHAPE OF MY HEART! THE SHAPE OF MY HEART is a New Adult contemporary romance, published by Harlequin HQN, and is the third book in the 2B Trilogy Series. Don't forget to grab your copy of the first two books and fall in love with her characters all over again!

The Shape of My Heart
Some people wait decades to meet their soul mate. Courtney Kaufman suspects she met hers in high school—only to lose him at seventeen. Since then, Courtney’s social life has been a series of meaningless encounters, though she’s made a few close friends along the way. Especially her roommate, Max Cooper, who oozes damaged bad-boy vibes from every pore.

Max knows about feeling lost and trying to move beyond the pain—he’s been on his own since he was sixteen. Now it’s time to find out if he can ever go home again, and Courtney’s the only one he trusts to go with him. But the trip to Providence could change everything…because the more time he spends with Courtney, the harder it is to reconcile what he wants and what he thinks he deserves.

It started out so simple. One misfit helping another. Now Max will do anything to show Courtney that for every heart that’s ever been broken, there’s another that can make it complete.

So many questions ricocheted around my brainpan, but Max’s shoulders were pulled up almost to his ears, his chin nearly on the table. Without looking at me, he shredded the napkin in his hands into four pieces and then in half again. The waning sunshine streaming in the smeared window behind him haloed his hair, so that the highlights shone blue instead of tawny or copper.
“You don’t have to tell me a bedtime story,” I said gently.
“No, you need to know. So you understand what’s going on and why it’s so tense when we get there.”
            “Okay. If you’re sure.”

BLOG TOUR | HARD TO COME BY by Laura Kaye

This is my stop for the review/excerpt blog tour for HARD TO COME BY by Laura Kaye!

About HARD TO COME BY:
Caught between desire and loyalty…

Derek DiMarzio would do anything for the members of his disgraced Special Forces team—sacrifice his body, help a former teammate with a covert operation to restore their honor, and even go behind enemy lines. He just never expected to want the beautiful woman he found there.

When a sexy stranger asks questions about her brother, Emilie Garza is torn between loyalty to the brother she once idolized and fear of the war-changed man he's become. Derek’s easy smile and quiet strength tempt Emilie to open up, igniting the desire between them and leading Derek to crave a woman he shouldn’t trust.

As the team’s investigation reveals how powerful their enemies are, Derek and Emilie must prove where their loyalties lie before hearts are broken and lives are lost. Because love is too hard to come by to let slip away…

Pre-order or purchase before December 2, and get awesome bonus content!

Praise for Hard to Come By:
"Rough sex and explosive fights power Kaye's third Hard Ink novel, a thrilling adventure that feels more like an action movie with a romantic subplot than a typical contemporary romance. New readers will head straight for Kaye's backlist after powering through this installment." ~Publishers Weekly Starred Review

"TOP PICK! If you're looking for danger, gritty action, and sizzling passion, then Kaye has just the book and the series for you." ~RT Book Reviews Magazine

Derek smiled, walked up to the bed, and leaned over her, his hands on each side of Emilie’s head.

“Mmm, I like this view,” she said, his proximity and the position stirring her blood.

“Me, above you?” he asked, heat slipping into his dark gaze. Emilie nodded, and Derek’s eyes narrowed. “What else do you like?”

Her stomach went on a loop-the-loop. “The way you talked to me. Against the window.”

Derek pushed his hips between her thighs and slowly rocked against her core. “You’re very inspiring,” he said, humor sliding in behind the heat in his eyes.

AVGChristmas

A VERY GREY CHRISTMAS BLURB:

I was getting ready to spend the single most important holiday of the year alone. Completely and utterly alone. That meant he wouldn’t be there Christmas Eve. No making Christmas cookies, or listening to my dad sing off-key while my mom bustled around wrapping last-minute gifts. No decorating the tree. No midnight Christmas kiss. No waking up in Grey’s arms. We were actually going to spend our very first Christmas in different states. That was until Grey gave me the most unexpected gift of my life.

About THE HAZARDS OF MISTLETOE:

One snowy Christmas Eve, one mistletoe kiss, one friendship changed forever.

Don’t underestimate the power of mistletoe. It looks innocent enough, but a single branch has the potential to change your life. One mistletoe kiss led to the most embarrassing night of my life, but thankfully by the next Christmas I ended up exactly where I was supposed to be.

“Ice skating and hot cocoa? What are you buttering me up for?” I sat down on the bench and unlaced my skates. The snow was falling a little bit heavier, but the flakes were still light and more pleasant than a nuisance.
“I’m just enjoying an evening with a beautiful woman. I do have a romantic side you know.”
“Romantic?” What was Glen playing at? I’d had a crush on him for years, but things had stayed completely platonic. We were good friends who saw each other once a year, and teased each other through text messages and late night phone calls. That was it.
He didn’t hear me. He was already in line to return our skates. I waited for him to return with my boots, and not for the first time I was glad I’d worn wool socks. It was cold during the day, but the nights were absolutely freezing.
“Here you go, my lady.” He bent down and proceeded to put my foot into my boot.
I pulled away from him. “Knock it off. What’s gotten into you tonight?” As charming as Glen was being something seemed off with him. I wondered if maybe I wasn’t the only one who was upset.
He proceeded to move on to my next boot. “It’s Christmas Eve. Aren’t you Miss Holiday Spirit?”
“Usually.”
“Exactly.” He put on his shoes and tugged on my hand to pull me to standing. “Let’s get those hot chocolates.”
The line at the café on the other side of the rink was nearly out the door, but I was enjoying Glen’s company so much I didn’t mind.

SYNOPSIS

Colleen Hoover, the New York Times bestselling author of Maybe Someday brilliantly brings to life the story of the wonderfully hilarious and charismatic Warren in a new novella, Maybe Not.

When Warren has the opportunity to live with a female roommate, he instantly agrees. It could be an exciting change.

Or maybe not.

Especially when that roommate is the cold and seemingly calculating Bridgette. Tensions run high and tempers flare as the two can hardly stand to be in the same room together. But Warren has a theory about Bridgette: anyone who can hate with that much passion should also have the capability to love with that much passion. And he wants to be the one to test this theory.

Will Bridgette find it in herself to warm her heart to Warren and finally learn to love?

Maybe.

Maybe not.

He runs quickly and quietly through the dense woodland, his breathing is shallow yet steady. Beads of sweat glisten on the translucent skin of his forehead. His intense brown eyes drink in the surroundings of the forest as they flash by. The muscles flex in his arms and legs as he runs and the sun reflects the contours of his body, showcasing his strong physique.

I wake with a start; I can feel the blood pumping ferociously through my veins and a ringing in my ears. My heart is pounding so loudly that I’m sure it will wake Mom, Dad, Lily and Deacon. I take deep breaths, slowly inhaling and exhaling, in an attempt to calm my beating heart.

This is the tenth night in a row that I’ve dreamt of him: Zane. I’m surprised we’ve retained the ability to dream, that they hadn’t programmed it into the Vita. I have no idea what the dreams mean, or if they mean anything at all. No doubt I’ll spend the rest of today thinking of him, instead of concentrating on my classes and maneuvers.

Only one problem. Jason is a lyrical lone wolf that isn’t happy about sharing the stage—nor his ranch — with the sassy singer. But while it may seem like a song entitled ‘Jason Monroe Is an Arrogant Ho’ basically writes itself, their label and their millions of fans are expecting recording gold…

Aaaaaaand R.S. Grey did it again! The Duet is only the second book that I’ve read written by R.S. Grey but already consider me as a fan of hers forever! I’m completely sold as to how she writes and breathes life into these characters. I tell you, this year won’t end without me scouring the shelves for her other books! I.NEED.THOSE.BABIES!

Just like Scoring Wilder, The Duet is a very unique and entertaining read that will manage to get a really good laugh out of you. It’s unique in a sense that the premise of this book is unlike any other books out there. Brooklyn Heart, an international popstar, is thrust into a situation she never would’ve thought of and imagined happening in her music career. Her label decides to pair her up with Jason Monroe (a certified soulful singer) for her Grammy performance. The task at hand now is for them to create the perfect duet that they would perform. Well, that’s quite a task to do considering that they’re from the polar opposites of the music genre spectrum. How are they going to manage to overcome this curve ball thrown in their way? Will they be able to set aside their differences and successfully create the duet in time for their Grammy performance?

BOOK REVIEW | I WANT IT THAT WAY by Ann Aguirre

Title: I WANT IT THAT WAY (2B Trilogy #1)
Author: Ann Aguirre (Website | Twitter
Publisher: Harlequin HQN
Publication Date: August 26, 2014

SYNOPSIS

Nadia Conrad has big dreams, and she's determined to make them come true—for her parents' sake as well as her own. But between maintaining her college scholarship and working at the local day care to support herself, she barely has time to think, let alone date. Then she moves into a new apartment and meets the taciturn yet irresistible guy in 1B….

Daniel Tyler has grown up too fast. Becoming a single dad at twenty turned his life upside down—and brought him heartache he can't risk again. Now, as he raises his four-year-old son while balancing a full-time construction management job and night classes, a social life is out of the question. The last thing he wants is for four noisy students to move into the apartment upstairs. But one night, Nadia's and Ty's paths cross, and soon they can't stay away from each other.

The timing is all wrong—but love happens when it happens. And you can't know what you truly need until you stand to lose it.

Purchase links: Amazon | B&N | iBooks

Oh my, reading the titles of Ann Aguirre’s 2B Trilogy makes me want to sing! Seriously, the three titles are basically song titles from the Backstreet Boys:  I Want it that Way, As Long As You Love Me and The Shape of my Heart. Is Ann Aguirre a fan of those boys? Lalalala

I Want It That Way is the first ever book that I’ve read written by Ann Aguirre, so I was really excited to read IWITW and know how she delivers as a writer. For me, this one just felt like an okay book. There were moments that my attention will be caught, heartstrings tugged but there were also moments that felt to be fillers for the pages of the book – quite boring and monotonous, if I must say. But the thing that I love the most about this book is that it didn’t paved way for more clichéd stuff to pop into the storyline. Just like: "the past" showing up and retracting actions and words from the previous years, a third party springing in the middle of the Nadia-Ty relationship meltdown or somebody cheats on the other person. Good thing, none of the above happened in the book or else.
