Title: WAKING UP PREGNANT

SYNOPSIS
The night that changed everything!
Waitress Darcy Penn is the smart, sensible type—flirting with the extremely cute guy in the bar just isn't her usual style. As for ending up in his hotel room? Definitely not! Sneaking out while he's in the bathroom to avoid the post-sex awkwardness? Much more like it
.
If Darcy had stuck around, Jeff Norton could have told her about their "epic latex fail." So he shouldn't be quite so shocked when months later, Darcy turns up at his classy L.A. office and throws up in his wastepaper basket. She's got a bad case of morning sickness, and she's here to find out what he's going to do about it!
Ramblings.
I
love and adore books with babies involved in it. Yep, that’s pretty much the
reason why I read this book and why an ARC of Baby for Keeps is sitting on my
Netgalley account. Pregnancy, Soon-to-be moms and dads and babies just takes the book up a notch into a
whole new heart warming level.
My thoughts. Waking Up Pregnant
serves as a companion novel to Waking Up Married (which I haven’t read yet) but
can certainly be read as a standalone novel. This book is short, sweet and
emotional read about the characters of Jeff Norton and Darcy Penn who are into
this dilemma of her being pregnant after their one-night stand in Vegas. The actual
story takes place three months after that said night wherein Darcy drops by
Jeff’s office and manages to turn his world upside down. Though, he kind of
expected it after that mishap with the latex (in which he hasn’t had the time
to tell her) during the time they’ve spent together BUT still shocked to see a
proof and confirmation of it all. Crazy, NOT.
A little bit of back story of their Vegas fun
night together and then we’re now launched through their story on how they’re
going to deal with the information that a baby’s on the way, how they’re going
to deal with each other and what their relationship is going to be like in the
near future. But Darcy’s been this independent girl for most of her life (so
she comes off as a bit stubborn) while Jeff’s the type of guy who’s willing to
provide for everything and will make you want to cave in to his whims. Ha! They’re
definitely bound to clash in one way or another …
Storyline quite familiar? So yeah, it’s
pretty much predictable but it is definitely believable and really delivered on
the emotional side of the story. It made me realize how emotional reader I am because
I really bawled my eyes out while reading this book and my heart’s doing this
squeezing thing. With this book being such a short read, we actually see the
characters opening up and developing within its pages and that’s actually
beautiful to witness. They were able to learn, accept and cherish the changes
happening in their selves and lives. *SIGH* Though, I would have appreciated it
more if there were scenes where Connor and his wife made an appearance together
or more stuff about Jeff’s business and all that, just to make us see that
there’s more to the characters mentioned in this book.
Okay, that’s pretty much it. If you want to
read something short and want to cry your hearts out, then you should
definitely pick this book up.
