BLOG TOUR | FLUKES by Nichole Chase

About FLUKES:

Meena has a secret guarded closely by her family—a secret as dangerous as the sea and buried just as deep. When court-appointed community-service workers are assigned to Flukes, the family-owned animal sanctuary, everyone is on high alert. It doesn’t help that Meena finds herself attracted to sexy-as-sin Blake Weathering, one of the new workers. If he wasn’t so distracting, she might be able to land Flukes a much-needed cruise-line contract.

Blake Weathering, the first in his family to attend public school, has developed a tough image. Unfortunately, it lands him in trouble. Now banned from his high school graduation ceremony, getting his diploma is dependent upon a community-service gig cleaning up fish crap. No diploma, no trust fund fortune—and no way to escape his overbearing father. The last thing he needs is the distraction of a mysterious girl with teal eyes who pulls at his heartstrings.

When Blake discovers Meena’s secret, they are both thrown into a desperate search for information about her past. Two worlds pull them in opposite directions, and they will have to fight to hold on to all that really matters.

“He’s friendly.” Blake’s voice was amused and he automatically scratched under Mitch’s chin. She squee’d loudly and spit water at his face.

“Mitch is a girl.” He held his hands up to ward off her wet assault and I couldn’t help but laugh. He didn’t seem irritated by Mitch’s antics, just amused and wet.

“My apologies, Mitch. I did think it was weird that you were so pretty if you were a boy.” Blake reached out a hand and scratched her chin again. He looked at me from the corner of his eyes. “Did you tell her to do that?”

“What? Oh, the splashing? No. She’s just sensitive.” Jallia came over and rolled onto her side. I traced my hands over her belly and cooed under my breath. The baby was healthy and happy. He was going to be a big boy. “Not long now, Jallia. You’re going to have your son out and playing in no time.”

Mitch nosed her mother for a minute, checking the baby as well. After a minute, Stormy started making noises about being hungry and I laughed. I set the fish bucket between Blake and Ime. “Here, feed them, but don’t let them knock the bucket over.” Mitch rose out of the water and flopped onto the decking between us. “Mitch! You got my clothes wet!” I yanked the bucket out of the way and pushed Mitch back into the water.

Stormy darted through the water and opened his mouth for Blake to deposit some fish. It didn’t take us long to empty the bucket and I enjoyed answering Blake’s questions. He was smarter than I had given him credit for.

“Are these markings from the other dolphins? They look like teeth scrapes.” Blake leaned close to Stormy and peered at the teeth rakings on his melon.

“Yeah. Some of them are from playing, roughhousing. Some of them are from being irritating. He is a nosy guy.” I ran my hand over Stormy’s head. “Most of them fade pretty quickly. They shed their skin every two hours.”

BLOG TOUR | MARRY ME, CHARLOTTE B! by Carla de Guzman

MARRY ME, CHARLOTTE B!
Carla de Guzman
Published April 30th 2015 by Midnight Books
Genre: New Adult

ABOUT THE BOOK

You are cordially invited to the wedding of the year!

Nellie Canlas loves her job. She loves being assistant to reality TV star and wedding planner goddess, the fabulous Charlotte Bertram, and she loves working with couples to make their wedding dreams come true. What she doesn’t love is having cameras following her all the time, especially when she’s crushing hard on the lawyer from another floor.

Robert Bertram doesn’t like planning weddings. He doesn’t like being on TV either. But when he finds himself in possession of Nellie’s diary, he thinks he can turn her into anyone’s dream girl. If he doesn’t fall for her first.

The book is also available for direct download and a limited print run. Please contact the author for more information.

The camera pans in on one of the many skyscrapers in downtown San Francisco. We zoom in on a corner office on the higher floors of the building. The wall on the right is a gallery, full of gorgeous black and white photographs of weddings. The desk looks simple and nondescript, with black glass top. There is a vase of peach roses on the desk, along with papers portfolios, and several sticky notes in neon orange clashing badly with the white walls. There are more photographs posted on the tall office window.

A woman strides in, her heels clacking against the hard wood floor until she reaches the large rug. Her long, wispy red hair lifts gently away from her face as she tosses her coat over the arm of the sofa. The subtitle tells us that this is the legendary Charlotte Bertram, CEO of Charleston Weddings and star of Marry Me! Charlotte has sharp blue eyes and a gorgeous figure, always dressed in low cut silk shirts and fit pencil skirts. She ignores the camera as she looks over the work she has to do for the day. Then she looks up and blinks around her office, as if expecting something to happen.

[Year-Round YA and NA Guide: A List of My Most Anticipated 2015 Releases] Q&A with Emma Chase, Author of Overruled

I recently chatted up with the author of the Tangled Series, Ms. Emma Chase, and we talked about her upcoming new novel and series - Overruled, first book from the Legal Briefs series. I think, this may be one of my favorite interviews that I ever did here in my blog. I just had so much fun asking Ms. Emma some questions and learning more about her and her books. Especially now that she's starting this new series, it's really interesting to know how she came up with idea, what were the preparations she did and those pre-writing thoughts. All great stuff. I've also thrown in a couple of questions wherein I mentioned the Tangled series and you definitely might want to know the answers of Ms. Emma to those. *winks*

I'm sure you'll enjoy this quick and short interview that I did with her. So you better start scrolling now, read the interview and check out the treat that she left in this post. You'll certainly be teased with Overruled.

Title: OVERRULED (The Legal Briefs #1)
Author: Emma Chase (Website | Twitter
Publication Date: April 28, 2015
Publisher: Gallery Books

SYNOPSIS

Emma Chase, New York Times bestselling author of the Tangled Series, returns with the first installment of the Legal Briefs Series.

As a DC defense attorney, Stanton Shaw keeps his head cool, his questions sharp, and his arguments irrefutable. They don’t call him the Jury Charmer for nothing – with his southern drawl, disarming smile and captivating green eyes – he’s a hard man to say no to. Men want to be him and women want to be thoroughly cross examined by him.

Stanton’s a man with a plan. And for a while, life was going according to that plan.

Until the day he receives an invitation to the wedding of his high school sweetheart and mother of his beloved ten-year old daughter. Jenny is getting married — to someone who isn’t him.

That's definitely not part of the plan.
***

Sofia Santos is a city raised, no-nonsense litigator who plans to become the most revered criminal defense attorney in the country. She doesn’t have time for relationships or distractions.

But when Stanton, her "friend with mind-blowing benefits" begs for help, she finds herself out of her element, out of her depth, and obviously out of her mind. Because she agrees to go with him – to The-Middle-Of-Nowhere, Mississippi – to do all she can to help Stanton win back the woman he loves.

Her head tells her she's crazy...and her heart says something else entirely.
***

What happens when you mix a one stop-light town, two professional arguers, a homecoming queen, four big brothers, some Jimmy Dean sausage and a gun-toting Nana?

The Bourbon flows, passions rise and even the best laid plans get overruled by the desires of the heart.

Why is this book included on my list? It's a book coming from Emma Chase, so duh! I need it! Fact: I'm waiting for April to come nearer for me to get started in reading the last book of the Tangled series. Yes, I haven't read it yet. I still can't part with Drew so I'm saving it up and waiting for the release of this one. Me and my weird brain. *shrugs*

Amanda (A): Hi, Ms. Emma! Thank you so much for granting my request and giving me this opportunity of interviewing you. I’m so thrilled to have you on my blog! Before I proceed in asking questions about your upcoming book, Overruled, I shall ask you first something a little bit about yourself. Who’s your favorite author and what are your favorite books? How did this particular author and these books influence you as a person and as a writer?

Emma Chase (EC): Thank you for having me! I’ve always loved historical romances – Julie Garwood & Johanna Lindsey are two of my favorites. What I like best about their stories, and how they’ve influenced me as a writer, are that there are real emotions – laughter, tears, heartache and swoons – but there’s a lightness too them as well. A security that things won’t get too dark and the happy ending will come through.

A: Have you really dreamt of becoming a writer? Who or what inspired you to become one?

EC:  I’ve wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember. It’s something that I’ve always loved doing – writing stories for myself, sharing them with friends. Being a published author is truly a dream come true.

[Year-Round YA and NA Guide: A List of My Most Anticipated 2015 Releases] Q&A with Moriah McStay, Author of Everything That Makes You

Author: Moriah McStay (Website | Twitter
Publication Date: March 17, 2015
Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books

SYNOPSIS

One girl. Two stories. Meet Fiona Doyle. The thick ridges of scar tissue on her face are from an accident twelve years ago. Fiona has notebooks full of songs she’s written about her frustrations, her dreams, and about her massive crush on beautiful uber-jock Trent McKinnon. If she can’t even find the courage to look Trent straight in his beautiful blue eyes, she sure isn’t brave enough to play or sing any of her songs in public. But something’s changing in Fiona. She can’t be defined by her scars anymore.

And what if there hadn’t been an accident? Meet Fi Doyle. Fi is the top-rated female high school lacrosse player in the state, heading straight to Northwestern on a full ride. She’s got more important things to deal with than her best friend Trent McKinnon, who’s been different ever since the kiss. When her luck goes south, even lacrosse can’t define her anymore. When you’ve always been the best at something, one dumb move can screw everything up. Can Fi fight back?

Hasn’t everyone wondered what if? In this daring debut novel, Moriah McStay gives us the rare opportunity to see what might have happened if things were different. Maybe luck determines our paths. But maybe it’s who we are that determines our luck.

Why is this book included on my list? Initially, the book cover caught my attention which lead me to check out the synopsis of it. Now, I am very curious how this book will be written and how the story will flow.

Q: Before I proceed, I shall ask you first a little bit something about yourself. What’s your favourite food? Favourite color? Favorite TV show? Pet peeve/s?

A: Fave food: Stuffed pizza from Bacino’s in Chicago—spinach, no mushrooms. Fave color: Orange. Pet peeve: Pointless quotation marks on billboard ads.

Q: Who’s your favorite author and what is your favorite book? How did this particular author and book influence you as a person and as a writer?

A: This changes all the time. Right now I love David Mitchell (Cloud Atlas, Bone Clocks) because he’s just a brilliant, awe-inspiring writer. Growing up I read lots of classics, and Jane Austen was probably my favorite. I’m a sucker for a love story.

It’s been days already since I’ve finished reading His Wounded Light by Christine Brae and I’m typing in my review just now. Why? Because I have to let everything that happened in this book sink in. Just wow, it totally blew my mind and my emotions away. I actually won’t go into detail with what happened here in this book because I’m quite sure that you’ll want to get a full experience of it once you’re reading it. And I also want you, guys, to experience that same level of happiness, sadness, frustration, regret, pain and everything that I’ve felt while I was reading it. Trust me on this.

Actually, I was really scared to start reading this book. Yes, and I even told Christine about me being scared to dive into this. The Light In The Wound’s ending seems perfect for me already and I’m fully contented with it. But then, Christine has so much to tell about these characters and their lives. So yeah, I was really scared how this one will affect everything because come on… Every Book 2 in a duology, trilogy or series just opens up a whole lot of opportunities to break relationships and let different kinds of drama in.

His Wounded Light is written from the POVs of Alex, Jesse and Isabel which was a great treat for us because we were given the opportunity to get to know more about their deeper thoughts and feelings. The shifting in the POVs was nicely and cleverly done. I notice what you did there, Christine!

THE PROLOGUE. I can’t even, guys! Christine did it again with her “WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED HERE?” kind of prologue! I was even chanting “what the heck what happened to them?” in my mind when I was reading it. My curiosity and emotions were tearing me apart. One part of me wants to carry on reading already and the other half wants to stop first thinking that I can’t handle what’ll happen next.

Author: K.A. Tucker (Website | Twitter
Publication Date: March 3, 2015
Publisher: Atria Books

SYNOPSIS

Luke Boone doesn't know exactly what his uncle Rust is involved in but he wants in on it-the cars, the money, the women. And it looks like he's finally getting his wish. When Rust hands him the managerial keys to the garage, they come with a second set-one that opens up the door to tons of cash and opportunity. Though it's not exactly legal, Luke's never been one to worry about that sort of thing. Especially when it puts him behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 and onto the radar of gorgeous socialite named Rain.

Clara Bertelli is at the top of her game-at only twenty-six years old, she's one of the most successful undercover officers in the Washington D.C. major crime unit, and she's just been handed a case that could catapult her career and expose one of the west coast's most notorious car theft rings. But, in order to do it, she'll need to go deep undercover as Rain Martines. Her target? The twenty-four-year old nephew of a key player who appears ready to follow in his uncle's footsteps.

As Clara drifts deeper into the luxurious lifestyle of Rain, and further into the arms of her very attractive and charming target, the lines between right and wrong start to blur, making her wonder if she'll be able to leave it all behind. Or if she'll even want to.

Why is this book included on my list? In love with the first book of this series and am really curious with Luke Boone's character. Luke's a side character in Burying Water and he's living a very interesting life in that book. I don't know how the cards will play out for his character this time around. Plus, I love the conflict that'll be happening between the two main characters.

I think, I've been very vocal about it in my social media accounts that my favorite book written by K.A. Tucker is Burying Water. Seriously. I love everything about that book. I'm still in love with it. I totally recommend that book. To know more about it, here's my review for Burying Water

“Good night, Luke,” she says, lifting onto her toes to lay a light kiss on my lips. “See you in the morning.” The door shuts and, a moment later, I hear the interior latch.

Dammit. It’s going to be a long night. “Follow her lead… follow her lead…” I mutter, tossing my suit jacket toward a small table. Missing it completely. My fingers fumble with the buttons on my shirt as I head back to my own room. Stripping off my pants and shirt, I toss my clothes onto a side table and drop down to begin my obsessive nightly regime. Because, fuck, maybe that’ll keep me from heading back out and knocking on her door.

“Saving Grace” by Kristen Proby in BABY, IT’S COLD OUTSIDE

I approach Jeanette at the desk again with a smile.

“I’m sorry, I forgot to ask for my instructor’s name, and where am I supposed to meet him?”

“Oh, I should have said,” she replies and flicks her fingers over the keys. “It looks like he’s right over there.”

She points to two men standing by the front entrance. I thank her with a nod and approach both men. One is young; he has to still be in high school. Maybe college. He’s all gangly arms and long legs and doesn’t look like he’s ever shaved a day in his life.

He must be the student before me.

The other man is tall, much taller than my five foot four. He has golden blond hair that is long, just touching his collar, and begs for a woman’s fingers to dive into it.

Jesus, down girl.

He’s wearing black ski pants, but he’s taken off his jacket, revealing a dark blue North Face fleece that molds around strong arms crossed over his impressive chest.

Hello, hot ski instructor.

“Hi.” I stop next to Mr. Hottie and hold my hand out to him. “I’m Grace, your next victim.”

RELEASE DAY BOOK BLITZ | FINDING MR. DARCY: High School Edition by Erin Butler

Finding Mr. Darcy: High School Edition
Release Date: 09/16/14

Summary from Goodreads:
Sixteen-year-old Liza Johnson takes fangirl to a whole new level of crazy when she decides to take dating advice from her literary hero: Jane Austen.

With the help of her best friends, Liza sheds her ancient-speak and complete Austen wardrobe for something a bit more modern in an attempt at finding her very own Mr. Darcy.

Enter Will, the new kid and Liza's Darcy incarnate. Add her BFF's ex to mix and the sexy Brit who kisses with an accent, and Liza is in trouble.

So, what's a girl to do? Without her mom to go to relationship advice, Liza turns to the only person she can truly trust with matters of the heart via her mother's copy of COMPLETED WORKS OF JANE AUSTEN.

It's too bad Austen's heroines have never played Spin the Bottle or Seven Minutes in Heaven. Liza's determined to find her true Austen-esque happy ending, but if she can't trust herself instead of books, she just might end up in her own tragic love story.

Buzzing.

I heard it as I moved closer. Each step raised the tiny hairs all over my body until I tingled. I fought the urge to turn around, but Janie would kill me. Again.

The humming pitched higher. My heart detonated in my chest. Just around the corner and…I was there.

Lunch.

I tugged my backpack tighter and held the straps out in front so I felt the security of it on my back. The monkeys were crazy today, jumping, screaming, laughing. All of them, the Geeks, Preps, Loners, Freaks, Smarties, Drama-Ramas, and Jockheads—all high—all with serious issues of ADHD and all put on this earth at the same time, designated to this lunchroom at this very minute, to bug the crap out of me.
