In this sequel to the bestselling fantasy thriller, Angelfall, the survivors of the angel apocalypse begin to scrape back together what's left of the modern world.

When a group of people capture Penryn's sister Paige, thinking she's a monster, the situation ends in a massacre. Paige disappears. Humans are terrified. Mom is heartbroken.

Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Her search leads her into the heart of the angels' secret plans where she catches a glimpse of their motivations, and learns the horrifying extent to which the angels are willing to go.

Meanwhile, Raffe hunts for his wings. Without them, he can't rejoin the angels, can't take his rightful place as one of their leaders. When faced with recapturing his wings or helping Penryn survive, which will he choose?

Wow, that was quite a read. Just like Angelfall, the pacing of this book was really good. The flow of the story was so smooth/polished despite the eeeky grisly parts of it. I didn’t even notice that I was already half-way through it. (Noooooo! I want more pages!) Dagnabit, because I had the need to put this book down to some chores in the house. Psh. But still the excitement and all my World After feels in my body were intact and desperate to finish this book as soon as possible. So, here I am. I haven’t slept yet just to finish and post this book review. Ha! The things I do for books. Oh joy!

Story. World After picks up hours after the first book, Angelfall, ended. We witness Penryn scaring the crap out of everyone when she like "rose from the dead", as what the Resistance crew thought of. Everyone knows about that scene in the aeries that Raffe pulled off - her being carried or delivered to her family in the arms of an angel and her dying or probably already dead in his arms. So when she made that single movement, everyone was frantic about it. Even her mom was screaming.

Penryn's together now with her mother and her little sister. Plus, she's back in the Resistance camp with Obi leading the group. DeeDum there at the sidelines being their usual selves. BUT Their safety under the Resistance's arms was cut short. Some people from the Resistance tried to capture Paige (read the book and you'll know what she did), which eventually triggered for her to disappear on her family.

AGAIN. Along with her mother and Clara (someone who Penryn saved from one those tanks. Uhm. Remember that scene from Angelfall? Yes? No?), Penryn is up for another quest to find her sister. Though, she never would've guessed where it will lead her ... the center of everything. To the center of what's brewing in the Angel Politics side up until to the involvement of the human beings to this turmoil. Oh Penryn, why do you always find yourself in the middle of something?

Overall. I may have included this line in my book review for Angelfall, “It somewhat left tons of questions unanswered by the end of it, leaving a sort of mystery and excitement for its follow-up book. Angel Politics turmoil. The involvement of those kids. Lower Demons. Resistance. Scorpion Angels.” Those that I've mentioned were the base/key elements of the series and it was expounded in this book on how important those are to the direction and plot of the story. I love every single turn of event that happened here and how they were carefully plotted in the "Penryn & the End of Days" timeline.

Gahh. I'm just in awe on how Susan Ee weaved these dark elements altogether. It just comes out as a very polished story. I also love how Ee handles all the gory details - blood, intestines yikes. Yes, this series is quite dark but you won't be shying away from it. You'll just be craving for more.

Raffe & Penryn. Heads up. Raffe is pretty much absent for more than half of the book. And I think Raffe's absence will make readers cherish all those scenes with him in it. THAT MOMENT WHEN THEY SAW EACH OTHER AGAIN - I DIED! It was like waiting for 1838439494 years for him to appear but dfhsjda it was truly worth the wait. Even though, we only have less Penryn-Raffe scenes here in this book ... we still saw the dynamics that they have in Angelfall. The easy flow of banter, sarcastic remarks, Raffe's sense of humor, the chemistry between them and the feels were totally present. I ship them so HARD despite the rules the angelic race have!!!

THE Mom. Her character was someone that I was looking forward to when I started this book. Come on, she did entertaining stuff in the first one. Surely nobody could forget her cattle prodder scene. Mom’s character is a very distinctive one. Whenever Penryn thinks along the lines of someone doing this and doing that crazy stuff, *light bulb* readers already know or have a clear hunch as to who she’s referring to. LOL, It's as if her Mom's the only character who could pass for that description, with a premise such as with what this series has. She may be speaking in tongues and doing crazy things but we must admit it that she’s really clever and a genius! Hands down. I thoroughly enjoyed every single scene that she was mentioned. I may or may not have been laughing my ass off because of the pranks that she did. (GO READ THE BOOK NOW AND YOU'LL KNOW WHAT SHE'S BEEN UP TO HERE IN THIS BOOK! YOU'LL CERTAINLY BE ENTERTAINED!) She’s the bomb! I love her to death!

POOKY BEAR *ROLLING ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING* BAI GUISE THIS IS ... You'll get to know her once you start reading the book. I love her too!

Book Three. There’s so much to look forward to with how Susan Ee ended the book. World After ended in rather a good note and also not in a cliff-y hanger type of ending. But you can feel it in your gut that there are more crazy stunts that both Ee and Penryn are going to pull off in the next installment. I want more. I wish World After was a couple more chapters longer. More pages and chapters. Phew phew. The next book's going to be the last book, right? FLAILING I'm DYING to know if Penryn and Raffe will get a HEA? HUHU Yes please? Screw those rules! Or let there be a miracle and those rules will be abolished. *runs around the house*
