Pages to Screen

*light bulb sound* Great thinking Hollywood executives, directors, scriptwriters and book authors.

Today's generation is bombarded with loads of exciting book series and has certainly received good feedback from the readers. Thus, building a huge FANDOM surrounding it.

Taking this fact into consideration, the Hollywood trend of today is turning these bestseller books into blockbuster movies.

A Book and Great Author + Brilliant Director and Scriptwriter (crew) + Perfect Actors for the lead roles = A+++ and millions of money.

Readers of the book + fans of the actors = totally insane and HUGE FANDOM.

Magical Pages to a Magical Movie Experience

June 26, 1997 (UK Release Date for the book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone), I'm sure Potterheads won't forget this significant date that ignited everything else in HP's world. The whole world (young or old people) was introduced and entered the world of Magic, Harry Potter, Hogwarts, magic spells and curses.

But it was only after FOUR YEARS (2001) that this book was turned into a movie. I can clearly remember the date when it was released in the United States (why? It was a day before my birthday). November 16 it is.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and J.K. Rowling + Chris Columbus (Director) + Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint (THE TRIO) = oh well, everyone of you knows the end result, A WORLDWIDE MAGICAL PHENOMENA.

Vampires of Today

Twilight, the first book of The Twilight Series (vampire-romance) was published on October 5, 2005. The world was introduced to the dangerously hot and gorgeous creatures that existed in the fictional world.

When talking about this book series, we can't avoid mentioning these beautiful names created by Stephenie Meyer: Isabella Marie Swan, Edward Anthony Masen Cullen, Jacob Black, Alice Cullen, Rosalie Hale and many more.

The hype for this book got so fast that in 2004, Paramount Pictures' MTV Film was the original option as the studio to make a movie version of it. But then it faltered for they've produced a script that was quite far from the story line of the Twilight novel.

2006 - Erik Feig (President of Production at Summit Entertainment) made a deal to Stephenie Meyer and promised her that the film would be true to her vision.

The DIRECTOR AND SCRIPTWRITER. August 31, 2007 - Summit officially signed Catherine Hardwicke as the director and Melissa Rosenberg as the scriptwriter of the movie. Then we're off to casting...

(A day before my birthday AGAIN) On November 16, 2007 - Summit posted an official press release saying that Kristen Stewart will be playing the 17-year-old, Isabella Swan. And it was also announced that the production of the film will start by February of '08.

December 11, 2007 - Robert Pattinson was revealed to be playing the role of EDWARD CULLEN

Then, BAMMMMMMMMMMM! The rest is HISTORY
